Three Simple Things to Do to FEEL Good Today!

When I thought about why I was feeling good this morning, I realized that part of it was because I’m still enjoying the positive feelings that came from getting together with an old dear friend over the weekend. So I thought I’d share these simple tips, so you can feel good too!

And if you’re doing these things already, this can be a reminder to do them today!

You can read below, or watch this 5 minute video I made for you!

The first idea is to make time for people.

Don’t just wait to find the time. Make the time.

It’s so important to make this a priority. It’s not just going to happen. You need to be intentional about it. So pick up the phone, send a text, send an email, and make a plan to get together with a good friend. If you can’t get together in person, meet over Zoom or FaceTime.

This is powerful because our relationships are the strongest predictor of happiness. So make time for them. Think of it as your job. A crucial component of self-care.

Then when you’ve got something on the calendar, you can use the power of anticipation to feel good. Simply thinking about your upcoming meeting elevates mood. So harness the power of that anticipation.

The second idea is to share a goal, or a challenge with each other when you and your friend get together.

My friend and I were talking about the power of the Law of Attraction, and the importance of maintaining an abundance mindset. We meet at this diner regularly, as it’s in the middle of our two houses. When we’re there, we love to leave a tip that it double what might be expected. It’s not a whole lot of money! But it feels good to leave something unexpected.

As we were talking about having an abundance mindset and giving to others, my friend Nancy shared with me that she gives out Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards to random people. She’ll hand one to a police officer, fellow teacher, or homeless person on her trips to NYC. I thought that was such a nice idea!

After 3 hours of laughing and crying, Nancy and I hugged, and said our good-byes. I was about to drive away when I heard a tap at my window. It was Nancy, handing me a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card! As much as I love Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, I knew it wasn’t for me. I now have my first Dunkin’ Donuts gift card that I intend to gift to a stranger.

So share a challenge. It doesn’t have to be about money. It doesn’t need to involve other people. Share any goal that you’re working on. Simply by sharing it, you’re more likely to achieve it.

What friend can you meet with?

What goal or challenge can you share? (Team Gratitude is a good one! If you’d like to learn more about that, it’s part of my 5-Day Gratitude Delight. You can sign up for that by clicking HERE).

Bye for now. I’m heading out to give away this Dunkin’ Donuts gift card! And… to write a gratitude letter to thank her for her lifelong friendship, and let her know how much she means to me. Which leads me to the 3rd thing that you can do today to feel good. Write a gratitude letter to a friend!

In Gratitude,

Peggy
