6 Meaningful Gratitude Ideas for Thanksgiving

By yourself

1. Before leaving your bedroom, sit on the edge of your bed, close your eyes, and think about one thing that you’re grateful for. Anything. This could be a person, object, experience, relationship, anything at all. Think about it in detail. Why are you grateful? Connect to the feeling of gratefulness.

2. Handwrite a gratitude letter to someone and mail it. Expressing appreciation for someone fosters closeness in the relationship, makes the person feel good, and makes you feel good!

3. When your head hits the pillow at the end of the day, think about one thing that happened that you are grateful for.

With others

1. Have each person write on a piece of paper what they are grateful for. Put each slip of paper into a jar. When everyone is gathered in the same location, or around the table, pass the jar around. Then each person pulls a slip of paper from the jar and reads what someone else wrote.

2. Invite one person to do Team Gratitude with you for one week, or a month. Each day, you share what you’re grateful for with each other via phone, text, or email. Here’s a quick video explaining Team Gratitude.video preview

3. Light a candle to represent the spirit of a loved one who’s passed. Then invite anyone who would like to share something that they are grateful for about that person.
